2012 Bay-Friendly Garden Tour Announcement

2012 Bay-Friendly Garden Tours

“Showcasing Natural Gardening Techniques”

The 9th annual Garden Tour will open gates to over 65 gardens located in geographic clusters in Alameda, Marin, Napa and Santa Clara counties.

  • Sunday, April 29, Alameda & Santa Clara
  • Sunday, May 6, Napa
  • Saturday, May 19, Marin

A new crop of gardens celebrates the diverse styles of Bay-Friendly with backyard orchards, urban homesteads, drought tolerant lawn replacements, greywater installations, and native habitats.

You can preview some of the gardens by visiting www.BayFriendlyBlog.org where a host garden ‘pick of the week’ will be posted between now and the tour.

Registration is required to receive a guidebook with directions, garden descriptions and entrance tickets for all three tour dates; cost is $10 per guidebook. The guidebook also has coupons, including up to 20% off at several local nurseries. Register at www.BayFriendlyGardenTour.og.

The registration deadline is April 20 to visit Alameda and Santa Clara gardens; April 27 to visit Napa gardens; May 11 to visit Marin gardens. Garden clusters are located in the following cities: Palo Alto, San Jose, Fremont/Newark, Oakland, Alameda, Mill Valley/Larkspur/San Anselmo, Novato and Napa.

The tour is organized through the Bay-Friendly Landscaping & Gardening Coalition, a regional nonprofit comprised of home gardeners, landscape professionals and local governments. The Coalition promotes landscaping practices that work in harmony with the natural conditions of the San Francisco Bay Area.
