The Middlebrook Gardens installation crew installed my large native garden in record time - 8 days from hardscape demolition to planting and mulching. The job included irrigation and decorative lighting, and the experienced crew worked efficiently, yet with great care. Highly recommend!

Thank you for all of your hard work. You have all been wonderful to work with in the process of relandscaping our front yard. We are so happy with the look and feel of the project. It is exactly as we had hoped. I am even glad we waited until fall to implement. We love the dry creek, the Connecticut blue walk, the fountain, the meadow and the plant choices. The yard now complements the house…Alrie - we love your design. Growing so well! Meadow looks terrific. Randy, you were wonderful to work with in the implementation. Thanks for the hand-holding and the persistence with the rocks and the lights. All looks great now. Rocks, as you placed them, were perfect. You also have a great eye.

In the May 2009 I hired Middlebrook Gardens to design and implement a (mostly) CA native garden for a large backyard that had been dominated by a swimming pool and surrounding decking. The pool was removed in June, providing Alrie with a mostly blank landscape with which to work. The garden was installed in late July and we are extremely pleased with the result.

My goals for the project were:
-a water-efficient landscape that would be relatively low maintenance
-a variety of plants that would provide garden color throughout the year
-a nice patio area for entertaining
-a small area set aside for a vegetable garden

At our initial meeting it was obvious that Alrie had read the information that I had submitted on-line and she asked a lot of good questions regarding my objectives. Overall project cost was a design constraint and she was able to perform a design that could be implemented for the target cost. She used an iterative design process that allowed us to quickly arrive at a design that met both the design and cost goals.

The installation was extremely well planned and executed. Randy, the project manager, was heavily involved in the effort and his supervision kept everything flowing smoothly. The installation was estimated to require about 2 weeks and the schedule was maintained. An excellent irrigation system was implemented allowing the watering times to be adjusted for the various planting zones. Alrie supervised the final plant placement before planting was begun. After planting a thick layer of decorative wood chips was applied to all bare ground; this has been very effective at weed control.

At almost two years from planting we are extremely pleased with our new back yard.
